China is one of the world's largest producers of Fluorite, and Chinese Rainbow Fluorite is particularly prized for its vivid, multi-colored banding. Fluorite is also fluorescent under UV light — the word "fluorescence" actually comes from Fluorite, which was one of the first minerals observed to exhibit this property. Its relatively soft structure (hardness of 4) means it should be handled with care.
